  9. You should use this application to update Rival versions1.1.4 through 1.1.9v to Rival 1.1.9w.

  11. Your copy of Rival will then be System 7 and More Disk Space compatible. It will also protect you against six new viruses, MDEF D, ZUC C, MBDF A, INIT 1984, CODE 252 & T4.

  17. To update your copy of Rival, double-click on Rival Refresh to open it. Then select the copy of Rival on your hard disk, and click the Refresh button. In a few seconds, you will be notified that the update was successful. You must restart your computer for the update to take effect.

Note to System 7 users: If you put Rival Refresh on your hard disk, you can update Rival by simply dragging your copy of Rival and dropping it onto the Rival Refresh icon. You'll be notified if the update was successful, and your copy of Rival will return to its original location automatically. If Rival is not already in the Control Panels folder, move it there and restart your computer for the update to take effect.

  23. The T4 virus was discovered in Gomoku (version 2.0 and 2.1), a public-domain game uploaded on various sites.

This virus modifies the System file in order to prevent system Extensions from loading, which can make it crash on boot. It infects applications, which makes them sometimes unrecoverable. If an application cannot be repaired, Rival will not allow it to launch. In any case, it is preferable to reinstall the application from a safe backup.

  27. After a certain number of files are infected, a message is displayed to identify the virus.

  29. The T4 vaccine recognizes T4 A and T4 B variants.
